Shout out to the model turned one of the greatest actresses of all time. Even through she has been away from the silver screen for over a decade, her twenty years of work in Hong Kong is legendary. Like most westerners, I first saw Ms. Cheung in Wong Kar-Wai's films most notably In the Mood for Love. As wonderful as she is in Wong's movies, for my money, her greatest performance is in Stanley Kwan's biopic/documentary hybrid Center Stage where she plays the 1930's Shanghai actress Ruan Ling-yu as well as herself.
